4 Superb Wedding Cake Alternatives

4 Superb Wedding Cake Alternatives

There are many traditional elements to a wedding. And it is really lovely to hold onto these traditions. For example, having your father walk you down the aisle or having your first dance are both lovely traditions. But there are also plenty of ways you can add a bit more personality and creativeness for your wedding. Instead of going with a traditional wedding cake, you could consider going with some sweet tasty alternatives. Here are four ideas for mixing up your big day with wedding cake alternatives.

(1)A cupcake or a doughnut ‘cake’

If you want to go with something a little bit traditional yet different to the usual wedding cake, you should consider compiling your own wedding cake tower. For example, cupcakes are a great idea and will guarantee you are able to create a really lovely display.

Another big favorite at the moment is to opt for a lovely doughnut cake. Towering mouthwatering doughnuts into a huge cake pile is going to get your guests really excited.

(2)A candy bar/buffet

When it comes to wedding catering, there is nothing more ‘in’ right now then to have a buffet style food bar. To be honest with you, this is one of my favorites! And if you don’t want to have a regular wedding cake then having a candy bar buffet for your wedding is a great idea.

This Huffington Post article lists some amazing ideas for a candy bar buffet. A candy bar will give a nice centerpiece for your wedding and it is also a really good decorative element. This is definitely going to be a big hit with the kids!
This is also especially great when you are doing a candy bar themed around a particular season or holiday!

(3)Cake pops and macaroons

One of the biggest trends in baking has been cake pops. These lovely little cakes are served on a stick, a little bit like lollipops, and they make a great alternative wedding cake. They still offer you that traditional cake taste but because of the way they are served you are going to have a very unique look for your ‘cake’.

You could also add a little bit more twist for your wedding cake by alternating between cake pops and macaroons. Macaroons make a really decorative dessert and they will definitely add some more glamour for your wedding.

(4)A waffle bar

The food bar theme really can give you plenty of amazing ideas, other than just candies and sweets. For example, if you have a really down to earth, rustic wedding then having a simple waffle bar at the wedding is a really lovely idea. You can go with so many topping choices that there are plenty of options for all sorts of guests. Fresh berries, cream and even ice cream are all really good ideas to go with for your waffle bar.
