Hudson Valley Weddings – 3 Tasty Christmas Cocktail Ideas for Your Wedding

The magical time of Christmas is the perfect time for celebrating your love. There is also an increasing amount of couples who are tying the knot during the holiday season. Little creative details are the perfect way to create the right mood for your Christmas-themed wedding and tasty cocktails are one of the simplest ways to achieve a magical Hudson Valley wedding. Here are three cocktail recipes you should consider making for your Christmas-themed wedding.

Snowball

The Snowball has so far been a bit of an obscure drink in the US, but the recipe is a famous Christmas-style drink in Europe. It is a perfect cocktail for a winter wedding, because it looks amazing and it tastes great as well. It has a very nice warm tone to it, with a bit of kick at the end.

You should definitely use a snowball cocktail as a welcome drink and you can already have it served at the table in cute tall cocktail glasses if you want. This recipe is from the Whisked Foodie website, but you can find plenty of snowball recipe’s online. You can easily play with the recipe by adding a lemon wedge or cherries as decorations.

Ingredients (makes one)

2 ounces advocaat

4 ounces lemonade

Pour the advocaat to your chosen glass, top it with ice and add the lemonade. Stir just a bit with a little stick. If you are making a larger quantity, you can just mix it in a jug and pour to cocktail glasses.

Apple-Brandy Hot Toddies

If you are getting married at one of the Hudson Valley’s marvelous wedding venues, the winter season can bless you with a bit of cold weather. To counter the effects of the weather, a hot cocktail is a nice idea. You can serve it either as a welcome drink or save it for later in the evening.

This Apple-Brandy Hot Toddies recipe from the Food and Wine website is perfect for Christmas weddings. It has just the right Christmas-feel to it with the mix of flavors and your guests are going to love it.

All you need to do is boil the water, remove from heat and stir in the honey. Add lemon juice and the apple brandy while stirring. Before pouring the mixture in the glasses, add a cinnamon stick to each mug or glass and serve hot!

Gingerbread Martini

Of course, one of the most essential flavors of the holiday has to be gingerbread. Gingerbread flavor also makes a great addition to a cocktail and these Gingerbread Martinis are a heavenly addition to your Christmas wedding.

This cocktail could work very well as a dessert cocktail or you could serve it during the cocktail hour, for example. This recipe is from the Eat Drink Love website.

For the syrup:

½ cup water

½ cup brown sugar

4 tbsp. molasses

1 tsp. ground ginger

For the martini:

2 ounces vanilla vodka

1.5 ounces Kahlua

1.5 ounces Bailey’s Irish Cream

3 tbsp. gingerbread syrup (above)

2.5 ounces half and half

Gingerbread cookies and whipped cream for garnish
