Hudson Valley Wedding – 5 Fun and Creative Pumpkin Projects For Your Wedding

Hudson Valley Wedding – 5 Fun and Creative Pumpkin Projects For Your Wedding

Wedding planning is a lot easier when you have a theme to guide you through the process. And if you are getting married in the fall, then the season itself offers amazing seasonal ideas for your wedding. Pumpkins are such a central part of fall and they make amazing decorations for your wedding reception. Here are five fun and creative pumpkin projects for your special day.

1. A Pumpkin Vase

You can create beautiful table arrangements with pumpkins. You can use plastic or Styrofoam pumpkins and paint them with the theme color. For instance, snow-white pumpkins look pretty. Carve off the top of the pumpkin; fill it either with water or place a vase with some water inside the pumpkin. You can then just use it as a vase for your flowers. It is a subtle yet beautiful way to incorporate pumpkins for your décor.

2. Pumpkin Monograms

Large pumpkins also act as great decorations. You can use them as monograms either outside the wedding venue or in different parts of the reception room. For example, you can create pumpkin monograms and place them on the dessert table or on the wedding gifts table.

There is a great tutorial for pumpkin monograms at the Butlers’ blog. On top of this, you can even go further and write little messages and poems onto the pumpkin.

3. Pumpkin Place Cards

Furthermore, mini pumpkins are perfect place cards. Again, you can spray-paint the pumpkins with the theme color and do a little carving onto the stems of the pumpkins. Then just craft small paper placards with the guests name and place the card into the stem.

Everyday Occasions blog by Jenny Steffens has a simple tutorial for metallic pumpkin place cards. This is a simple project that adds a nice, elegant touch for your fall wedding. If you have more time on your hands, then you can even carve the name of the guests onto the pumpkin.

4. Pumpkin Candle holders

Naturally, pumpkins also make great candle holders. There are a number of ways you can create pumpkin candle holders that look elegant and classy. You can just carve out the middle of your mini-pumpkin and place a tall candle or tealight candle inside. There are plenty of elegant ideas on the Sunset website.

You can also try this DIY project by Twig and Thistle. It uses Styrofoam pumpkins that are spray-painted with glittery paint. It creates a unique look that doesn’t look too Halloween-y.

5. Pumpkin Photo Booth

A photo booth is a trendy addition to your wedding. And you can make it a little bit more playful by creating a pumpkin-themed photo booth. You can use a pumpkin background by hanging little pumpkins from a tree branch. Guests can then take a photo with these hanging pumpkins in the background together with a large orange frame that they hold. Check out Morena’s Corner for DIY frames.
Additionally, you can create small pumpkin props that your guests can use. Carving pumpkin moustaches or pumpkin spectacles can be a fun way to add some playfulness to your photo booth.

The above pumpkin projects can add seasonal flair to your fall wedding. There are also numerous Hudson Valley wedding venues that are perfect for hosting a lovely wedding ceremony during fall. You can contact us for further tips and advice for the best Hudson Valley wedding entertainment.
